Making a collage garment is pure fun; you use either a sweatshirt base or use a foundation style base. You will choose solids and small prints that will blend with the theme fabric - think Asian, flowers, animals, fish etc.. You do not wash the fabric prior to the collage process – just before the binding is to be added, you will wash and dry the garment to get the texture of the raw edge stitching,

Student supply list:
1. Purchase a sweatshirt that is two (2) sizes larger than you wear. DO NOT PREWASH.
2. Fabric: a fabric that has animals, a flower of different sizes, Asian birds, fish, etc., something you can cut apart. Choose other fabrics that pick up color from the main fabric, some solid and small prints that do not overpower the main design. Thread to match the fabric and the color of the sweatshirt. If you prefer to line your jacket, purchase coordinating fabric and thread. DO NOT PREWASH YOUR FABRIC.
3. Sewing machine with free motion foot. General sewing supplies, including a small pair of scissors for cutting sections of the fabric apart. Make sure you have extra needles for your machine.

What do all quilters have, despite the techniques they love to do? Scraps! This is a workshop where you learn different ways to assemble those scraps we save and cannot bear to get rid of. This is a very freeing and fun workshop, guaranteed to not only use up some scraps but create a one-of-a-kind quilt while learning about color, value, and block techniques!

Student supply list: Sewing machine in good working order (don’t forget pedal and cord) Neutral thread Typical sewing kit: scissors, seam ripper, pins, etc. Cutting mat at least 12" by 18" Sharp rotary cutter & ruler (best size 2-1/2" by 12" or close) Fabric (see note below) Paper and pencil for doing the math for your final quilt size and division of colors Extra light, if needed
Note: Fabric is of course, the most important element of this project. This is a chance for you to use up some of the scraps you have been saving! Look especially for focal fabrics that have “pictures” or interesting images that you can feature in your quilt. Almost all fabric is workable: stripes, polkadots, prints, solids, batiks, even UFO blocks. You should think ahead as to which colors you want to focus on and bring scraps in those colors.
If you want to make a rainbow effect as you see in my sample, you will need yellow, orange, red, purple, blue, and green, but any combination of any number of colors is possible. The rainbow effect is best for subtle blending of one color to the next, if that is what you’re after. Distinct color separations are OK too, where a more striped effect is desired. As you can imagine, you won’t need yardage, but some ombre fabrics are nice for having many colors, in which case you might want more than a scrap ;-) When in doubt, bring it! We will have a share table so everyone will have the optimum variety to work with. Keep in mind this is a 4-hour workshop, so when thinking about colors, you may only need 3 total to get started. This is a quick tour of a journey from earning the basics of quilting to a joyful obsession with wool appliqué. If you love to create quilts that tell a story, appliqué is one of the most versatile ways to express creative ideas. Working with felted wool is a tactile experience and is an extremely forgiving medium to work with to create appliqué pieces.
This lecture will highlight my personal journey in finding that quilting outlet that is both creative and easily constructed. I’ll share the ease of implementing designs, the challenges, and lessons learned from working on felted wool projects. Foundational skills such as finding and creating felted wool will be discussed. Preparation time and methods, plus embellishing basic embroidery stitches, will be included.

Welcome to this wool applique class!!! This class teaches a few applique techniques and a couple of starter decorative embroidery stitches to create a vibrant wool coaster.
There are four separate design kits offered. Each kit has the materials required to create an individual wool coaster. Each kit includes a backing, a primary wool background, some pre-cut pieces ready to be attached to the background, hand sewing needles, and coordinating silk threads. To provide hands-on learning, one design piece is not pre-cut. This uncut piece will be used to demonstrate how to go from a pattern and wool in hand to pieces ready to assemble for the design.
Participants practice how to interpret a pattern and prepare the necessary pieces. Applique paper or freezer paper is included in the kit to trace the pattern piece.
Cotton floss, pearl cotton, and wool threads will be provided to participants for experimentation with a few decorative stitching techniques.

Do all those beautiful quilts with curves intimidate you? Learn to sew curves with confidence as you complete this strikingly modern quilt. This class will cover a variety of strategies to improve your curve sewing technique and introduce you to using the Curve Savvy ruler by Creative Grids for cutting quarter circles and arches with a variety of diameters.
Dew Drops is a dramatic modern design that is perfect for a 2- or 3-color layout, and also works beautifully with a variety of colors filling the center circles. In class, you will sew several blocks, and assemble at least one circle. While optional, a little pre-work before you come to class will make your fabric easier to work with when cutting and sewing curves - see the supply list for instructions and a link to a video tutorial for this step.

This lecture is about inspiration and evolution. Through slides, I show how I started, how I work now, what I’ve learned, and the obstacles I’ve encountered throughout my creative journey. My intention is to encourage by example. I am hoping attendees will leave inspired and feeling that if I can do it, they can too. I like to bring as many quilts as I can and am open to all questions.

Join Giuseppe Ribaudo of Giucy Giuce as he shows you everything you need to know to English paper piece with his newest pattern, Petunia.. Obsessed with all things hand sewing, this workshop will teach you the ins and outs of EPP. You'll learn all about fabric selection, techniques like fussy cutting and mirroring to create kaleidoscopic designs, and of course everything you need to know about basting and stitching your blocks.
The best part of the workshop is when we all get to sit and stitch together! This is a stress-free and super relaxing class that will make you fall in love with EPP.

Students in this class will learn the layered portrait technique. Amaze your friends and family! I will demonstrate how to manipulate photos and how to draw contour quilting lines, but for the one-day class, I will create a custom pattern for each student based on a photo emailed to me in advance.
If you have a selection of photos, you may email them all to me, and I will help you choose; then you will get a pattern in class. Anyone who does not send me a photo will have a choice of mine (Ben Franklin, Johnny Cash, Einstein, Elvis, whoever I feel like printing out at the time).
