Beginning Needle Turn Applique - WS-52

Beginning Needle Turn Appliqué. Hand Appliqué Basics. Students will learn how to use any appliqué pattern (for needle-turn), turn seam allowances under using two different techniques. Techniques will be taught for perfect points, valleys and small circles.

Edge to Edge Designs with your Longarm Machine - WS-53

Locker-hooking for Tile Trivet - WS-51

An easy-to-make project using scrap fabrics and a 4-inch tile to create a trivet with contrasting textures. Techniques covered include preparing the canvas, cutting fabric strips, locker hooking, securing all tails, and joining the fabric strips and the cording. Each kit will differ in materials (tiles and fabrics).

Kit/handout Fee: $20 (Paid to the teacher in the classroom)
Kit includes: Canvas (3.75 mesh), four-inch square ceramic tile (designs vary), cotton twine, 1/2 yard cotton woven fabric, metal fasteners, backing material (color coordinated felt or foam), E6000 adhesive, printed instructions for the tile project.

Student supply list: Fabric scissors, permanent black marker, embroidery scissors, rotary and mat, ruler.

On loan during class: English steel locker hook, large tapestry needle.

In this class, Dusty will start at the beginning from the base plate to template. Everything you need to know about your longarm before you attempt quilting with tools. He will demonstrate different methods of holding your tools and a few tricks to keep them from sliding around on your fabric. Dusty will bring lots of templates and rulers to share and will give lots of tips on filling in areas with free motion work as well.

Take one prewashed sweatshirt, your size in a unisex sweatshirt, preferably one from a good thrift shop; add pieces of fun and colorful fabric, possibly using materials from unfinished projects; using decorative stitches ~ go crazy as you quilt the jacket; add ribbons, yarns, braids, crystals, paint and anything else that comes to mind. Those are the basic ingredients and we will show you the options and opportunities to make pockets, line the lower sleeves and finish with stunning results. Come have fun ~ ideal for adult or children.
