Double Tumbling Blocks Quilt Room N3 Rob Appell Tue. June 9, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Level: Beginning Class Type: Hands-on Category: Piecing Machine(s): Not required BERNINA Sewing Machines are provided by Going Batty Quilt Shop
This will be a fun and fluid workshop building blocks for a strip pieced Double Tumbling Block style quilt. You may bring scraps, or totally organize your color theory. I will help assist in the construction and layouts. Please note, I have several different YouTube videos available on this topic; however, I play with different size strips widths in each video. Therefore, you may work with any width strips you like, as long as the sizes are consistent. You may also follow the pattern for the Double Tumbler for a specific quilt design.
Kit/handout Fee: $20 (Optional) (Paid to the teacher in the classroom). Kit includes: Double Tumbling Blocks Pattern
Student supply list: Regular sewing tools 45mm rotary cutter, cutting mat, Optional Ruby Beholder or value finder. 24" x 6" to 9" Ruler AND 60 Degree triangle Ruler that is at least 7 1/2" tall
Fabrics Needed: 1/3 Yard of about 10-18 Tone-on-Tone Prints, AND the same number of solid reading fabrics to match the Tonal Prints. Plus 1 1/2 Yards Neutral Fabric - this will be the background, AKA the skinny strips that separate the blocks.
You should be working from 1/4 yard goods, 40" WOF, NOT Fat Quarters. You may also use 2 1/2" precuts for your colors if you like.
