Color Dance Room N5 Sandra Bruce Wed. June 10, 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Level: All Levels Class Type: Hands-on Category: Piecing Machine(s): Not required Sierra Sewing, Quilting, & Vacuums provides Janome Sewing Machines in this room.
This is a scrappy, wonky log cabin block design made from an original pattern. It has a fun mitered border with piano keys and is a great way to use up scraps you have been saving. If you are a traditional quilter looking to branch out a bit, this is a stepping stone in the right direction. You will learn how to make a gradation of colors to make a rainbow effect, and the pattern will give you plenty of instructions to finish this 70" by 70" quilt.
Kit/handout Fee: $12 (Paid to the teacher in the classroom). Kit includes: Pattern
Student supply list: A wide assortment of fabric scraps in varying sizes- concentrate on yellow, orange, and red A neutral color thread- grey is great Sewing kit- scissors, seam ripper, pins, etc. Rotary cutter and mat A ruler for cutting, at least 12" long Marking tools for both light and dark fabric Paper window (see below) Color Dance pattern (available in the workshop-$ 12)
To make a paper window: Cut a 14" square of thin cardboard or cardstock and mark a 2-inch border around it with a pencil. Cut out the inside 10 inches to make a 2-inch border "frame".
Note: We will be working from left to right, top to bottom, and therefore, concentrating on yellow, orange, and red. If you are a fast sewer, you may get to purple. Keep this in mind when picking out your fabrics. I will encourage sharing!
