Elevate your English Paper Piecing (EPP) skills beyond the hexagon! Learn how to create two different types of curved pieces and a triangle while sewing them together with the infamous flat back stitch! Michele will also teach how to hand appliqué your finished piece to a fabric square. A short inspirational PowerPoint on Brimfield blocks will be shown.
*This is a technique class; and this block will not be completed in class.
* This class is not for EPP beginners and those attending need to have EPP experience.
Kit/handout Fee: $10 (Paid to the teacher in the classroom).
Kit includes: Brimfield block templates for a 13 3/4 " design; and an instructional handout.
Student supply list:
Bring your own fabric (your choice of colors), but the sizes and colors noted next to each piece refer to the red/white/blue photo sample. All the red fabrics are different in the sample, but each group of 4 or 8 could be the same fabric - your choice.
Four 2 1/4" x 5 1/4" rectangles (curved sections inside circle- red/white/blue print)
Four 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" rectangles (large triangles - navy blue with stars)
Four 2 1/2" squares (medium triangles - navy with light blue squiggle)
Eight 1 3/4" squares (small triangles - medium blue)
Four 2 1/2 " x 3 1/2" rectangles (large rectangle under large triangle- 4 different reds)
Four 2 1/2" squares (medium rectangle under medium triangle - 4 different reds
Eight 1/2" squares (small rectangle under small triangle- 8 different reds)
One 16" square of fabric (background)
Hand-sewing needle that is comfortable for you
Two spools of 100% cotton thread: for basting (any color); 50 or 60 wt., medium or light grey (for sewing); and the color of your background fabric
Water soluble fabric glue stick (no craft glue sticks, please)
Small rotary cutter; 1" x 6" ruler; and small cutting mat
Small sharp pair of scissors (for fabric)
Sharp pencil
*If needed or desired: Thimble; battery-operated portable light
