Serge into Spiraling Room N2 Linda McGehee
Fri. June 12, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Level: All levels Class Type: Hands-on Category: Piecing/Serger Machine(s): Not required BERNINA L890 Overlocker/Serger Machines in this room are provided by Going Batty Quilt Shop
Create wonderful wearables, wall hangings, table runners & accessories with an artistic approach using Spiral Patchwork. Simply sew strips of fabric together, fold and sew into a tube. When the tube is opened, the design is repeated with no waste. Add new angles by shifting a ruler. In this class, use the serger to create quick piecing with a narrow-rolled hem of decorative thread like Ellana Woolly Poly on the outside, to form the illusion of corded piping, The serger is so much faster than the straight stitch machine and the pressing time is down to a minimum. Use 2 fabrics or 30! What looks so involved is actually quite simple. It's really fun and who knows what the outcome will be. This is a techniques class. The finished project will be your choice, completed later.
Kit/handout Fee: $35 (Paid to the teacher in the classroom). Kit includes: 7 fabrics for piecing, 2 spools of Ellana Woolly Poly, instructions & other surprises.
Student supply list: 1 yd muslin or batting for stitch & flip, basic sewing supplies (pins/clips, scissors for trimming or clipping), ruler at least 18" long, rotary cutter with new blade, anything that makes your sewing easier.
