So Many Panels Sew Many QuiltsRochelle Savage
Thu. June 20, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Class Type: Hands-On
Category: Domestic Machine Quilting/Sewing
Machine(s): Sewing Machine required
There is an extravaganza of wonderful Panels being printed now! Quick and attractive quilts can be made using these popular panels; combining the panel with coordinating prints and solids to creating a variety of designs.
In this class, you will cut and sew a portion of your quilt top (enough to know how to complete it at home). You will receive photos of approximately 35 different quilts that use a printed panel in their design. From a few of these photos, we will recognize a variety of piecing techniques. When you purchase your next panel, you will have a nice reference which will give you foresight in how you wish to "set" your panel in your next quilt. You will have ideas for using alternate blocks, border prints, pieced borders, offset or symmetrical setting of your panel, just to name a few. Some specific panels "ask" to be embellished by using Ric Rac, rhinestones, buttons, prairie points or just a flange on the binding.
There will be a quilt top showing each of these options. A flange binding demo will be given. If you own any quilt tops or finished quilts that have a panel in them, please bring them along with you to share with the class. Panel quilts are all about creativeness. The more you're exposed to them, the more knowledge and comfort you will gain for adding or subtracting components as you design your quilts. Cameras welcome.
