Angelina fibers are polyester iridescent fibers that will bond with themselves at relatively low temperatures to produce a non-woven type of fabric. Angelina comes in a wide range of colors. Learn about the many exciting ways you can use this unusual fiber in your art quilts. You will use an original dragonfly drawing provided by the instructor and translate this into a fabric collage using innovative art quilting techniques. You will fuse your quilt top in class and I will demonstrate my techniques (free-motion quilting, thread painting, couching, bobbin drawing), so you can finish it at home.
Kit/handout Fee: $10 (Paid to the teacher in the classroom).
Kit includes: Dragonfly patterns of choice (see images)
Student supply list: Fabric pieces (fat quarter size or larger) for the dragonflies, cattails and leaves, preferably batiks or hand dyed fabrics (for sale during the workshop, $23/yard). You will need one yard of background fabric. 2 yards of fusible web with paper backing, such as Wonder Under or Steam-A-Seam; Angelina Fiber will be available for sale during workshop.
