Create your own seascape wall quilt. Learn about essential design principles. This workshop is suitable for new and experienced quilters with a pattern available for those who are not confident to make their own fish design. We'll be creating a fabric collage using fused applique. 3D stumpwork, free-motion machine embroidery and thread painting, foiling, embellishing with Angelina and beads, yarn (couching) and bobbin-drawing techniques will all be discussed and demonstrated in class, but any sewing will be done at home.

Kit/handout Fee: $10 (Paid to the teacher in the classroom).
Kit includes: Seascape pattern (see image 1) - optional

Student supply list:
  • Fabric pieces (fat quarter size) including cottons, satins and organzas (maybe some fish prints and prints that remind you of coral or seaweed)
  • You will need one yard of background "water" fabric. Hand-dyed "water" fabric will be available for sale during the workshop, $23/yard. 
  • Embellishments (threads, ribbons, yarn and beads)
  • 2 yards of paperbacked fusible web (Wonder Under)
  • pencil
  • sharpie
  • scissors for paper and fabric
